Fashion alert!: Ethnic Style

Assalamualaikum =)
It took about a week till im finally done writing this post! I had been planning to write about my ethnic stuff collection, but since i was busy preparing for school (school started on last thursday), taking pictures, and editing, im able to finished it like today!

So, this picture above is a few of my ethnic stuff such as necklaces, bracelets, and dress. I think the first ethhnic stuff i bought is a necklace which originally made in East-Kalimantan/Borneo (the place where i was born) when i was in primary school. I was going out with my parents to find some gifts for old friends and i was attracted to the beauty of necklace with black color, then i told my mom to buy it for me. I've never worn it until today, though.
\Since i was in middle school, i've been liking bracelets, mostly ethnic as well. They're originally from every place in Indonesia, from Kalimantan, Java, Bali, up to Sulawesi. Everytime i and my bestfriends go on vacation, we always buy gifts for each other, mostly bracelets. So this kinda becomes our habit. The most unique bracelet i own is from Manado, Sulawesi. The seller said that bracelets were very hard to make since they are made from shells. I didnt forget to buy the shells necklace too. They are cool.
My mom used to collect ethnic necklaces. The major of my ethnic necklaces were given by my mom. The last time my mom bought necklace for me is a month ago in Jogjakarta. It's pretty and i like to wear it.

That's me wearing my batik dress which combined with high-waisted jeans skirt. Batik is one of our cultural dress originally come from Java. We, high school students often wear it in every formal occasion. Some old people are used to wear it in informal cases so its not rare to find people wearing them.The hijab i wear is a two-tone colors hijab, called Paris. It's so popular in Indonesia. You'll see every hijabi girl wearing them with different colors. The bow style was totally a try-out!

You Don't Want To Die Like This

Assalamualaikum =)
A few days ago i watched Oprah Show. It was talking about the deadly germ which killed 48000 americans in one year (according to www.medicalnewstoday.com), way bigger than HIV cases. She presented Tanya, a 30-something chef, the victim of MRSA, a flesh-eating bacteria. It spreads through contact with skin or contaminated surfaces. Not everyone who tests positive for the bacteria has an infection — some just carry the germ and spread it to others.

The Symptoms
It had begun when Tanya was chopping celery at work, when her knife slipped and cut her finger. A few hours later, Tanya says she pulled her right shoulder while lifting a heavy pot of potatoes off the stove. She felt a sharp pain but attributed it to muscle strain. Later that night, Tanya's teeth started chattering, and her temperature skyrocketed to 105.
Within 60 hours of cutting her finger, Tanya was fighting for her life. She had contracted necrotizing fasciitis—commonly called flesh-eating bacteria—and had to be airlifted to a larger hospital for emergency surgery. Doctors say they watched in horror as the deadly bacteria jumped from her arm into her chest...right before their eyes. Doctors began by amputating Tanya's arm and right shoulder but then realized it had spread into her right breast. The surgeons decided to do a full right mastectomy (romoval one breast). She is left with nothing more than a thin layer of skin to protect her rib cage and right lung. (credit: http://www.oprah.com/health/Dr-Ozs-Warning-About-MRSA-and-Deadly-Bacteria/1)

How To Prevent
The best way to stop MRSA from spreading is to wash your hands often. If you have an infection, keep yourself and your house clean. Follow the directions given to you by your doctor or nurse on whether or not the infection site needs to be covered. Only use antibiotics when they are given to you by your doctor or nurse.

A Bollywood Movie Worth Seeing

Assalamualaikum =)
Today i spent my afternoon with 2 of my best friends, Daisy and Angie (nah, actually its Desi and Anggi. LOL. you'd get the joke if you're indonesian). Daisy planned to invite us watching this movie titled 3 Idiots that she brought home after vacation. I actually had no idea what movie is that, is that good, how much the rating on IMDB, etc. But oh well, she just came back from a long vacation and i believed she'd just missed us so much so i gave it a try. (cause i ALWAYS check every movies im going to watch on internet). But this time.. Nope!

And..... guess what?! who knows that its an INDIAN movie?!!! I was unexpectedly startled. I thought i would have the most boring-horrible afternoon in my life. The only indian movie i watched is Slumdog Millionaire, but still, it was produced and directed by american!! It is amazing though. One of my favorite movies.

Ok back to the afternoon.... I tried pretending to enjoy this movie. After about 5 or 10 minutes i was wondering who the hell was this bla bla bla but i kept silent. Time goes by, then i was like "i thought i get whats this movie trying to tell to people" I shockingly surprised seeing myself enjoy watching a bollywood film. I laughed, i cried, i enjoyed every scene in this almost-3-hours.

SO THIS IS A MOVIE ABOUT....
Three guys attending Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. One comes from a poor family whom the parents spend most of the money paying for his son's college, one comes from a modest family whom his father urges him to be an engineer while he actually likes taking animal pictures, and the last one is a genius who's actually in love with machine stuff. Rancho, the genius guy doesn't seem to get along with the lecturer as he teaches his students just based on the books (just like school does). He once tried to insist the lecturer how important knowledge is, not just chasing grades which makes the cold-hearted proffesor furious with his attitudes and unexpectedly making him and his friends in troubles.
What i write above is just a little part of the movie. You'll see tons of great dialogues, scenes, and benefits from this worth seeing bollywood movie. Seriously. Don't judge book by its cover. Dont judge movie by its country.

Taylor Momsen: A Talented Model, Actress, And Singer

Assalamualaikum =)
Have you ever heard of Taylor Momsen? She's best known for her role as Jenny Humphrey in tv series "Gossip Girl". Taylor Momsen started modeling at the age of 2. At the age of 6, she played in How The Grinch Stole Christmas as Cindy Lou Who. She signed to IMG Models when she was 14. Nowadays she's always being in spotlight dressing up with edgy black outfits, stockings and her trademark smoky eyes, while she is only 16 (she's turning 17 on july 26). Yes, she's my age! She's amazingly talented! She's that kind of gothic, dark, angsty girl but also a workaholic and smart (she graduated from high school at the age of 14). She's currently going on tour with her rock band, The Pretty Reckless on Warped Tour 2010. She's being vocalist as well as playing the rhythm guitar. You should try to listen to their EP, they're great!!
This is the video of her singing the song "zombie" in MTV Live Sessions.

Why Spongebob Isn't Funny Anymore

Assalamualaikum=)
You may know about Nickelodeon's Spongebob Squarepants, but do you know who's the creator? Or should i say EX-creator? It was Stephen Hillenburg, a marine biologist and ex-marine biology teacher. Yes, it's clearly the answer why he wrote a cartoon who the character lives in the pineapple under the sea.
stephen hillenburg spongebob
Stephen Hillenburg was born on August 21st '61. He currently owns his production company, United Plankton Pictures, which the logo is plankton itself holding hands with his family members, which is somewhat based on one of the episodes. Stephen Hillenburg graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in natural-resource planning and interpretation, with an emphasis in marine resources. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in experimental animation from California Institute of Arts.
Before Stephen Hillenburg created Spongebob, he wrote a comic book titled 'The Intertidal Zone" and showed it to Martin Olson, one of writers of Rocko's Modern Life. He then suggested him to write a cartoon series about undersea creatures.
Stephen Hillenburg was rumored to have left the series. However, he did not actually leave the show but resigned from his position as the show's executive producer.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Hillenburg) The question is, who's in charge now? Some people state it's Paul Tibbitt. But whoever he is, he's not Stephen Hillenburg, so that's why...
